Welcome to October! As most plants are going into a dormant stage I have been thinking about rest, “wasted time,” doing nothing. I grew up in a family where if you were caught doing nothing you would get a chore! So, I learned that it is important to look busy. Now it is hard for me to relax guilt-free. Maybe some of you feel the same way. What I had to learn is that resting is not “doing nothing!” In fact it is probably one of the most important things we do each day. The fact is whether we plan for it or not our body will take down time so we might as well plan and enjoy it.
